Dan on the Environment

We must enact legislation to deal with the Global Climate Change issues which have been impacting our environment for years. By enacting simple life adjustments, we can provide significant benefits to our environment.

For the past several years, I have communted over thirty miles per day to my office in Washington DC and home via bicycle on the Capital Crescent Trail. I generally ride from mid-April thru October. While providing significant fitness benefits, my commute also takes less time than driving and I know I am helping the environment out. I also receive the benefit of saving money I do not have to spend on gas. While many people are not able to help our environment in this manner, I believe the following programs can benefit our environment greatly

  • Compressed Natural Gas Buses
By providing incentives to cities across our country who meet a graduated goal schedule to reach 100% usage of CNG Powered buses over the next seven years, we can provide major reductions in city polution. We have all been the victims of the black cloud of smoke emitting from a City Bus

  • Hybrid Incentives
By providing Federal Income Tax incentives as well as Federal Transportation Aid incentives for states, we should reward consumers willing to forego performance for environment and foreign dependence on oil.

  • Telecommuting Centers
Regional Telecommuting Centers for government workers to work offsite and closer to home. Both reducing cars on the road and improving quality of life
